Travel League - $100 per player
Travel teams are
selected each year during tryouts. These teams compete against teams from other parishes. Half of the games are played on our home court; the others are played in other towns. Any 4th thru 8th graders who do not make a travel team will have the option of playing on an intramural team. Games may be on weekends or week nights. Schedules are made by CYO of Nassau and Suffolk and are out of our control. The top teams in each division will participate in playoffs.
Players who are registered for a travel team will be notified of the date/time/location of their tryout as soon as the dates are set.
Coaching is provided by volunteers; usually by a parent of one of the players. Practice is generally 1 night a week at one of the local schools that donate gym time to St. Mary's. Uniforms are provided by St. Mary's for all players.
Please note that there will be separate leagues for Boys and Girls for each of the following grade classifications :
►
Grades 4 thru 8 - Girls season begins in late October; Boys season begins in late November.
NOTE:
Travel teams expect a strong commitment to the season. If you are a multi-sport player and basketball is not your highest priority when conflicts with other sports arise, please choose Intramural (if it is available for your age group).
►Grades 11 & 12 - This league of combined 11th & 12th graders is referred to as the "Senior" league. There are 2 seasons; the FALL season begins play in late September and the WINTER season (for Boys only) begins in January. The FALL team is for kids who also play on their high school basketball team. It is designed to finish before the high school season begins, to avoid conflicts. The WINTER team (boys only) is for those players who did not play on their school team. There is no WINTER team for girls.
No special requests will be granted in regards to desired travel coaches or teams.

Waivers: Any person who lives outside of Islip, East Islip, Great River or Islip Terrace, and who lives within a town that has a parish which has a CYO program must get a "wavier" from that parish to allow them to play within our program. This is for "travel" only. Any player is welcome to play in our Intramural league.
New for 2009: Travel players will be required to purchase their own uniforms.
