Intramurals

All intramural games are played at Islip Town Hall West, better known by its address, “401 Main Street”. Each team will play approximately 10 games. Games will be on Saturdays (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and Sundays (1:00 pm to 5:00 pm). Games are officiated by certified basketball officials who will also, when appropriate, stop the action to provide instruction. No official standings are maintained nor are there any playoffs. Coaching is provided by volunteers; usually by a parent of one of the players. Practice is generally 1 night a week (for 1 hour) at one of the local schools that donate gym time to St. Mary's. Uniforms are provided by St. Mary's for all players.

We have received very positive feedback from players and parents that enjoy the “fast paced” excitement of the games and the instruction that the players receive.

Please note that there will be separate leagues for Boys and Girls for each of the following grade classifications:

· 3rd & 4th grade - Boys & Girls season is from mid October thru mid January.

· 5th & 6th grade - Boys & Girls season is from early February thru April.

· 7th & 8th grade Boys - DISCONTINUED

· 7th thru 12th grade Girls - Girls Senior Intramural - Season is from mid January.. This is a “game only” league, no practices, with games on Tuesday nights.

                                                             NOTES:

· We will try, but not guarantee, to accomodate any special requests you may have to have your child placed with a particular coach or on the same team as another player.

· A child may only particpate in one league; Intramural or Travel, not both.

· No 2nd graders may register; regardless of talent level.

· You do not need to belong to the St. Mary's parish to particiapte in our Intramural league.
